We’re now past the first week of April, the unofficial end of the snow season around here. It’s going to be warm for the next 8 months or so. It’s finally time to put the snow shovels and driveway salt away. Here are some of those things basking in the sun on a fine spring morning; waiting to be stashed in a dark corner of a garage or shed, to lie in wait until the cold breezes, long nights and dingy gray clouds find their way back to this corner of the world. As they surely will. For now, though, it’s time to ignore such thoughts and enjoy the sun, trees and flowers, once again.

  1. Jim, Glad you are getting spring. Here today it has been pouring rain, lightning, thundering, etc., with a temperature of 39. Predictions are for rain for the rest of the week.

I *have* seen some small indications of spring–the “gold” (as in “Nature’s first green is gold / its hardest hue to hold” from Robert Frost; the weeping willows are beginning to turn gold. So the sap must be rising in the trees.

No matter how much I think of what I want to plant this spring, I still heed the mantra we have here: Don’t plant anything outside until after Mother’s Day. And it seems it may be even longer this year. Well, one of these days…with any luck. MCS

  2. Jim, Picture just came one my computer. (My computer must not be working right.) Nice picture for where you are. Some day perhaps we will be able to do the same–put the snow shovels and salt away. But not quite yet. MCS
