It’s early January and the holidays are over. The season to be jolly has passed. In offices across the country (such as this one, where I work), Christmas decorations are being taken down and put back into storage. Eleven months from now, hopefully some merry soul will find the decoration box and once again deck the halls of bureaucratic cubicles. For now, it’s time to get back to work amidst the dis-inspiration of a dark and brutally cold January (we have a snowstorm forecast for tomorrow). When the holidays end in early January, they end hard — almost like it never happened.

  1. Jim, Some nice decorations.
Hope you get thru the snowstorm OK. Lots of news here about it; so it must be a bad storm coming. Having gone thru a lot of such storms in my life, I would recommend that if public transportation is not available, take a day off if you have to so keep from having to drive thru a bad snow storm. 2. Jim, Considering the difference in cultures discussed in the previous post you wrote: Here’s an example of people willing to suppress individuality for the “good” of the country. I’ve heard it was the 2nd best thing since the opening show of the Olympics the Chinese did. I don’t know what is more amazing, the willingness of people to do something like this for their country or the engineering feat involved. So herewith, if I can get this to work, is “The Chinese Christmas Tree. I think you may need to cut and paste. com/embed/8oqPR5-GLuA?rel=0
