After President Obama announced yesterday that off-shore oil and gas drilling can now happen across a larger area in the Atlantic and Arctic Seas, I was reminded of Sarah Palin and her \u201cdrill, baby, drill\u201d mantra. Given that Obama\u2019s declaration had its limits and restrictions, it occurred to me that perhaps the Obama oil exploration motto should be \u201cdrill, maybe drill\u201d. <\/p>\n
I came up with that all on my own. But I had a hunch that I was not alone. And I was right. I did a Google search today on that quoted phrase, and I came up with 12 pages of listing. Interestingly, the first one to come up was an editorial from the Washington Post<\/a> from October, 2008. Then Mother Jones used it<\/a> on March 25, five days before the announcement. The Economist reacted<\/a> to Obama\u2019s announcement by shortening the phrase, dropping off the last \u201cdrill\u201d word; ah, how British.
