It’s finally mid-spring here on the East Coast, and despite some cool and dank weather leftover from winter, the stronger and longer sunshine and warm winds are finally making themselves felt. And it definitely feels good. One really nice thing about this time of year is that you don’t need to constantly check the radio or web sites for the latest weather forecast. <\/p>\n
This past winter was pretty rough, and you had to stay constantly connected to know when the next big cold wave or snowstorm was hitting. But now, it’s not a big deal; rain one day, clouds or sun the next, but you don’t have to worry about getting caught in a blizzard or an ice storm. Ah, you can feel the relaxed attitude in the voices of the local forecasters at this time of year. <\/p>\n
I had one last \u201cwinter zing\u201d early last week while at work. I looked out the window while discussing something with our budget analyst, and I saw the sky full of white flakes. I cringed reflexively and stopped my thought in mid-sentence, and then said \u201cwhat, it’s snowing again?\u201d. Has old man winter not left us yet? Are we in for slick and icy road conditions on the drive home tonight? No, it was just the wind blowing up some petals from the ornamental fruit trees blooming along the building perimeter. It was still in the high 40s or low 50s, no danger of 3 to 6 inches on the ground by nightfall. What a relief!<\/p>\n
Of course, spring has not been such a relief in the middle parts of the nation, where the icy winds from Canada are still battling it out with warm air coming up from the Gulf. From Illinois thru the Carolinas, they still clamor for updated weather info, as to avoid a torrential hailstorm or even a tornado! Sorry, you folk need to wait a few more weeks until you too can snooze through the next \u201cweather on the eights\u201d or fives or whatever. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
