So I did it yesterday morning (oh, and the moon wasn&#8217;t blue &#8212; it was in a crescent phase up in mid-sky as I drove over to Eagle Rock park in Montclair).  Here&#8217;s a little taste of what I saw today as the sun came up over Manhattan on the far horizon.  To paraphrase one of the Zen gathas, this is one less dawn that I&#8217;m going to see in this lifetime.
