I just haven’t had the inspiration for any picture-taking lately, so I decided to take a walk up to the reservation after dinner this evening. I still wasn’t inspired, until this mourning dove decided to humor me for a few moments while I took his picture. He was obviously a bit annoyed with my presence, interfering with his evening contemplations. So he soon flew off into a tree, abandoning this nice rocky perch along the ledge.
But hey. The rock will still be there tomorrow, and I’ll be somewhere else. Hopefully we shall both live to contemplate another day.

i love your photos. thanks for sharing, jim. i long for a place where i can take long walks and not be afraid of breathing in pollution. perhaps soon. but for now, i shall enjoy your photos and breathe deep.

Jim, Great pictures, once again. Lately, I’ve been noticing the shades of green at this
time of year. There isn’t just “green” but so many different shades. Yesterday, driving
along a street in front of one house I saw no less than three shades of green on two trees.
Beautiful!
And I think often of something I read not too long ago (the reference again escapes me) but
it was from a teacher who was trying to tell some Native American students about “nature.”
One of the students said to her: But don’t you think that the wind talks to the trees
sometimes? Now every time I see the wind blowing through the trees I think: What is the
wind saying to the trees?
There’s nothing like nature to calm one, to make one appreciate and love the earth. And your
mourning dove is another beautiful creature. MCS
