Just a few shots from a gritty spot that doesn’t attract much photographic attention. I.e., Riverside Avenue in Newark, NJ. But this is as real as it gets.

Jim, Some nice shots of some “gritty” places. And yes, there are a lot of those in too many places in cities.
What amazes me is that in almost any city (i.e., one does not have to be in a big city; one can be in any suburb surrounding one of the large cities) one can find such places; even few smaller cities (read suburbs) have the same kind of places. Don’t know if these pix are taken in a large city or one of its suburbs. Doesn’t matter. Such places seem to be everywhere.
Yet, also in such places there are people who live honest, sincere lives, struggling against the odds, often successfully, to live a good life. One can only honor and respect them. MCS
