Just some downtown renovation going on here. I’m sure that some new office space will soon be available.

Newark, NJ? Like you, I went to Newark College of Engineering and my Dad was raised in Newark. I would not want to live there because of its reputation for crime and violence, but nevertheless I have an emotional connection to that city. Like many old cities, it has great examples of ecclesiastical architecture – very pretty historic churches.
One in particular, St. Stanislaus on Irvine Turner Blvd., has a special place in my heart. My Dad and all of his siblings except one (who was born in Poland) were baptised there. And, if I may be so bold, I experienced a miracle there – I was cured of a bad case of hand eczema which had lasted for twenty years or more.
Although we’re not Roman Catholic, my wife Joan and I went to Mass there one Sunday while on our way to my brother’s house. At the end of the service, Joan found a St. Anthony’s donation card with a blue bracelet attached. She searched the rest of the adjacent pews and it was the only one there. On a lark, we put a twenty dollar bill in the attached envelope, dropped it in the poor box (if I recall correctly) and I wore the bracelet for a good part of the day. My eczema went away within a few days.
Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not. In any case, it’s a true story!
